Advanced Strength of Materials
COURSE CONTENT
High thickness pipes under internal / external pressure. Limit tube strength under internal pressure, composite tubes. Beam analysis in elastic subsoil, applications in thin walled cylindrical vessels. Frames and circular rings, elastic center method, applications. Analysis of thin-walled axonometric vessels under internal / external pressure, flexural disturbances due to geometrical discontinuities (change of radius of curvature, thickness of connection defects, etc.) Tranfer Matrix Method. The beam transfer matrix under bending, the beam transfer matrix in elastic subsoil, analysis of thin-wall cylindrical vessels and circular rings by the Transfer Matrix Method. Applications.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The students attending this course gain the advanced knowledge of Strength of Materials referring to specific applications of Mechanical Engineer.
This knowledge is necessary and is used in many subsequent courses of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, such as Introduction to Composite Materials, Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Finite Elements for Structural Analysis, Mechanics of Composite Materials etc.
The learning outcomes of this course correspond to the descriptive indicator 8, according to the European Qualifications Framework.
