COURSE CONTENT
- Basic principles of thermodynamics.
- Compressibility of fluids and speed of sound.
- Isentropic flows in convergent/divergent ducts.
- Flow in a constant area duct with friction.
- Flow in a constant area duct with heat transfer.
- Normal shock waves in convergent/divergent ducts.
- Oblique shock waves.
- Prandtl-Meyer theory for supersonic flow.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
The learning outcomes upon successful completion of the course are the following:
- Learning: The students comprehend the basic principles of compressible flow and can apply them to design and analysis of ducts, nozzles, airfoils and other supersonic flow systems.
- Skills: The students gain experience in solving compressible flow problems, they become familiar with using existing software for design and analysis of supersonic flow systems, and they can develop their own analysis tool for supersonic airfoils.
