Director of the Machine Dynamics Laboratory
Biographic Notes
I work as a Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics, while leading the Robotics Team at the Machine Dynamics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Patras.
In the past, I was also affiliated with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, for conducting collaborative research on Aerial Planetary Exploration. My team participates in the DARPA Grand Challenge for Sub-T exploration with the COSTAR team of NASA, where we won the second stage of the global competition in February 2020.
I also serve as an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of euRobotics, as a member of the Scientific Council of ARTEMIS in the field of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, as a member of the IFAC TC on Robotics, as an elected expert for the permanent working group (PWG) of A.SPIRE with a focus on Process Optimization and Ultra Carbon, as well as an elected member of Aeneas-XECS in embedded control systems.
My main research interests are in the areas of: Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Field Robotics, UAVs, Automatic Control Applications, Learning, Reasoning, Networked Embedded Control Systems, Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks, Cyber-Physical Systems, Mechatronics, Adaptive Control, System Identification, and Multimedia Wireless Sensor Networks and Cyber-Physical Systems.
