Biographic Notes
Prof. Pantelakis Spiros, Director of the Laboratory of Technology and Strength of Materials. From September 2009 up to September 2013 he has been the Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics. For the same period he has been also Vice President of the Board of Executives of the Research Committee of the University of Patras. He is one of the founding members and Chairman of the European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN) Association since its establishment in 2008. He has been Representative of the European aeronautics academia in the Plenary of the Advisory Council of Aeronautics Research in Europe (ACARE) and Chairman of ACARE’s Working Group on Human Resources. Since 2015 he is Member of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Aerospace Industry and since December 2016 member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Materials Industrial Research and Technology Center. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Greek Metallurgical Society (2008-2010). He has about 40 years experience in the field of materials science and mechanical behavior of materials and structures while he has been involved in more than 100 international aeronautics related research projects in many of them as Scientific Coordinator. Evaluator of international and national research proposals, member of editorial boards and reviewer of articles for a number of international scientific journals. He is the author of several scientific books, chapters in international text books and more than 220 scientific publications in peer reviewed international journals and conference proceedings. Chairman of about 20 international and a number of national scientific conferences, organizer of several decades of International Workshops as well as member of the Scientific Committee of more than 50 international conferences. He has been supervisor of more than 15 PhD Theses and member of the examining committee of several decades of PhD Theses at the University of Patras and outside it as external examiner.
